Hi! My name is Ms. Atkins, and I lead the Health and Medical Science Program for Rotec located at the Patrick Henry Campus. I’m lucky because I get to teach amazing students from both William Fleming and Patrick Henry. I offer classes in Medical Terminology and Intro to Health and Medical Sciences. I also teach Nurse Aide which includes a clinical experience, and at its completion, students may sit for the certified nursing assistant board exam. These students will also earn their BLS certification in this course.
In all Heath and Medical science courses, students can earn the following industry certifications:
-Workplace Readiness
Certain classes are offered as dual enrollment, earning both high school and college credit at the same time. There will be GPA and prerequisite courses required to enroll in these.
Even though these are serious courses that will require study, we have a lot of fun in class. We are all so very excited to be back in person with our students. All program students will be a part of HOSA- Health Occupations Students of America. HOSA is a student organization specific for students planning to pursue a career in healthcare and meeting will include competitions, planning community events, and providing community education.
